Biography
Stephan Wieder is a Nashville based guitarist and composer. He has worked with several local artists on side projects and shows. A few of the artists Stephan plays for are country artists Hunter Mounce and Brock Wagnor, along with jazz artist Marguerite Beane.
His main sound was developed through his exposure to jazz at his high school in Wisconsin. There he learned about the beauty of improvising and communicating musically. This has only expanded since he moved to Nashville, where he has enjoyed playing in jazz trios/quartets for a variety of corporate events and private parties. Stephan has been on long term jazz residency gigs like being hired by the prestigious Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island for the last two summers. This gig included several wedding, corporate, and guitar solo gigs. Stephan is highly influenced by legendary jazz guitarists; Wes Montgomery, Jim Hall, Jonathan Kriesberg, and Nir Felder. He is also influenced by several current local studio musicians such as; Brent Mason, Tom Bouchavec, Jedd Hughes, Guthrie Trapp, and Tyler Chiarelli.
When Stephan isn’t gigging or practicing, he enjoys going to Zanies to see stand up comedy. He is fascinated by the career and life of his comedic heroes. He said “The life of a musician and that of a comedian are very similar. It’s a lot of hustling to do what you love.”
